About
Who We Are
A different kind of furniture company for the next generation. The Round Rod Furniture Co. (TRRFC) was born from a desire to provide well-made furniture from the perspective of anti-capitalism. Urban lumber and “certified green lumber” are not enough, in our opinion, to redirect the effects of climate change. Wherever we go from here, we will still need furniture in an economically deglobalized world.
TRRFC is a transitional company that anticipates the end of capitalism but currently functions under the predominant paradigm of capitalism. We engage in commerce but look forward to adapting to economic shifts. Our business model is simplified to engage with contemporary social demands.
Our approach is timeless design, affordable price point, and respecting labor practices. TRRFC believes everyone deserves access to furniture that is reliable and sustainable. We will never internationally ship, outsource labor, and only use locally available materials. These pillars to our business are informed by the destruction fast furniture incurs on our planet and local economies. We hope to transition our business to function under a different economic model other than capitalism. What that is, is unclear at the moment. We are ready for any and all possibilities that strive to make a more equitable society and sustainable planet, meeting the furniture needs of tomorrow.
How We Operate
We have three modes of operations. Each mode is meant to serve a different price point and need.
Custom Round Rods/Custom Order: You tell us what you want, we make it.
Made to Order: Choose a design from our Round Rod Design Catalog plus details, we make it. You pick it up directly from our warehouse. No customization available.
Batch Run/Drop: We produce a batch run of one or multiple of our designs with our own detail choices. We let you know when the batch drops. You come to our warehouse to buy directly in person for a drop event. This is the most cost-effective option for customers looking to purchase our designs at a reduced-price tag. First come, first serve. Currently no customer purchase limits.
About The Owner
Martin Alexander
Furniture Maker | Wood Artist | Educator
With 7 years of woodworking experience and education behind him, Martin Alexander has developed a keen sense for furniture design and production. He has produced furniture for luxury clients and commercial entities. Although, he finds the fine furniture discipline to longer fit within his social beliefs. Society will always need furniture, but he questions and explores what furniture looks like through ethical design, production, and labor practices.
